Carolina Otero -

I’m Carolina from Venezuela. East Coast is such a great school!!! The most important thing for me is the personalized treatment, since my first day I felt so comfortable and welcomed by everyone. The classes are dynamic and every student has chance to participate actively. I wondered about meeting people from many countries, sharing and learning about different cultures is important to me, and at ECSL it’s so easy because they offer us a lot of activities and trips that makes it possible to spend time with other students from other classes. They are strict only in one thing: English policy, but I think it’s the best way to make us learn. The city is great too, it’s beautiful, there are many young people and there are a lot of activities to do. The teachers are nice and always open to helping students; Rebecca, Nicole, Candice and Leanne thank you very much, I’ll never forget you, all of you’re good teachers! Krista, Donna and Debbie are helpful for all and they always have time to listen, we can count on them for everything, thanks guys, you’re the best! ECSL is the best school and I recommended it!

University Achievement Program (UAP)

All full-time students take Skills classes for 15 hours per week. In addition, UAP students preparing for university spend 10 hours per week learning the skills they will need when attending lectures, by making presentations, doing extensive reading, and writing papers.  Each of the 4 levels takes 3 months to complete.

Level placement depends on a TOEFL (or equivalent) score or ECSL's Placement Test.  In Level 500, students also take part-time university courses at Dalhousie University, University of King's College, Mount Saint Vincent University, Nova Scotia College of Art & Design University and Saint Mary's University.  After successfully completing Level 500, students are accepted as full-time students without a TOEFL score at any of our 10 university and college partner-institutions. *Students in Graduate Programs at Dalhousie must meet TOEFL requirements.

*For all UAP students, mandatory reference books, in addition to textbooks, are required.
