University Study

University Achievement Pathway (UAP)

If your goal is to study at a Nova Scotia university, then our UAP is the program for you! Successful completion of the course allows you direct entry (no TOEFL or IELTS required) to undergraduate programs at all the universities and colleges in Nova Scotia - more choice than any other language school in Halifax.

The course is designed to prepare students for the independent study required of all university students. ECSL’s UAP courses are taught by qualified and experienced teachers dedicated to providing the highest standard of instruction for university-bound students.

Which Universities Can You Apply to?

We work closely with all the universities and colleges in Nova Scotia. You can apply to Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, Dalhousie, Saint Mary's, Acadia, Nova Scotia Community College, Cape Breton, University of King's College, Mount Saint Vincent, St Francis Xavier,and Nova Scotia Agricultural College. These are some of the best post-secondary institutions in Canada and offer a wide range of undergraduate programs.

UAP Program

The UAP program has four levels on the path to full-time university study. Applicants who meet the university's academic requirements but do not yet meet the language requirements will be placed in one of ECSL's 5 levels. ECSL's UAP program begins in Level 200. The student's level placement will be based on ECSL's assessment test or a recent international test score. Students in UAP 500 may take part-time university study while completing UAP 500. Students who successfully complete UAP 500 and their university course/s are accepted as full-time university students.

Level 200 - 3 months of full-time study at East Coast School of Languages
Level 300 - 3 months of full-time study at East Coast School of Languages
Level 400 - 3 months of full-time study at East Coast School of Languages
Level 500 - Start university study! Take 1 or 2 courses at one of our partner universities while completing 3 months of UAP 500
Level 500 completion - Full time study at one of our partner universities
